THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Nipah test result of the medical student in Thiruvananthapuram has been found to be negative. The result of the medical college student who came to the capital city from Kozhikode turned negative. The student was under observation after suffering from fever.
A native of Kattakkada was also admitted under observation the other day. Her close relatives had come to Thiruvananthapuram from Kozhikode. After developing fever, she was admitted to the general hospital for observation.
Meantime, Kozhikode is under Nipah alert. The results of 51 more people will be obtained today. Presently there are 1192 people in the contact list. Four people in the contact list of the resident of Cheruvannur, who was diagnosed with the disease the other day, are under isolation. The health minister said there is no secondary wave of the virus. Health Minister Veena George said that Nipah is under control in the state during its review meeting. No new positive cases have been reported so far.
The nine-year-old son of the first victim of Nipah continues on ventilator. The minister had said the other day that the child's health condition is improving and further steps will be taken including medical assistance. The condition of three others under treatment is satisfactory.
