Remand prisoner ends life in Kannur Central Jail, accused in wife’s murder case

KANNUR: A remand prisoner committed suicide at the central jail. The dead is Jilson (43) of Kenichira in Wayanad. He ended his life by slitting his throat early Tuesday morning. He slitted his throat using a small sharp weapon. The jail authorities said he was squeezing blood from the wound with his hands. He was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved.

Jilson was brought to Kannur Central jail from Mananthavady Sub Jail seven months ago. He had attempted suicide earlier also and following that, he was subjected to counselling. He was a great painter and he committed suicide while an exhibition of his paintings was to be held.

Jilson murdered his wife in last Vishu after locking his children in the room. He was a plumber in the water authority.
