THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM general secretary M A Baby responds to the huge setback that LDF faced in the local body election. He said that the loss was unexpected. He also clarified that this unexpected defeat should be understood as an indication that some trends that were not visible to the party or the LDF were at work in this election.
He said that the party and the LDF will thoroughly examine how it happened. There has been a leak in the votes of the CPM and the LDF. Many people who used to vote for us have cast their votes for other parties or fronts this time. There was what could be called a politically unholy relationship, Baby pointed out.
Baby said that there is no doubt that the Left Front will move forward from this setback by correcting the things that need to be corrected after listening to the criticisms of the people regarding the work of the party, LDF, government, and three-tier Panchayat institutions. He also denied the controversial remarks made by M.M. Mani after the election results. Baby clarified that M.M. Mani's statement was made carelessly while speaking and is not a statement accepted by the party.
