Actress Rima Kallingal has lodged a defamation complaint with the Ernakulam DCP, citing a targeted campaign to tarnish her image on social media. The case has now been handed over to the Ernakulam Central ACP for further investigation. According to reports, the complaint names eight individuals, accusing them of spreading false information, including claims that she is a drug addict, in an attempt to damage her reputation.
The complaint, filed via email, comes in the wake of serious allegations made by singer Suchitra. During a public discussion, Suchitra claimed that parties involving alcohol and other substances were regularly held at Rima’s residence in Kochi. She alleged that both young men and women participated in these gatherings, and hinted that certain illicit activities took place.
Suchitra further implied that these parties had a negative impact on Rima's career, stating that things occurred there that should never be part of any social gathering. She also questioned the actress’s advocacy for women’s empowerment, asking if such behaviour aligns with her public stance on the issue.
Suchitra’s video quickly gained attention on social media, leading to widespread criticism of Rima Kallingal. In response to the backlash, the actress filed the defamation complaint, highlighting these accusations and the subsequent online harassment.
