
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has brought Unnikrishnan Potty, the prime accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, to Thiruvananthapuram after collecting evidence in Chennai and Bengaluru. Unnikrishnan Potty was brought to the Enchakkal camp office of the Crime Branch. The SIT has found that Unnikrishnan Potty conducted transactions worth crores in Bengaluru.
176 grams of gold were seized from Unnikrishnan Potty's house in Srirampura, Karnataka yesterday. It is reported that land transaction documents were also seized. The investigation team had conducted evidence collection at Unnikrishnan Potty's flat in Srirampuram, Bengaluru. Gold coins and Rs 2 lakh were found from Unnikrishnan Potty's house in Pulimath.
The gold smuggled from Sabarimala will be produced in the High Court soon, the officials said. The aim is to collect maximum evidence before the custody of arrested Unnikrishnan Potty ends, the officials said. The gold was recovered from Roddam Jewellery in Bellary, owned by Unnikrishnan Potty's friend and businessman Govardhan. The gold bars weighing more than 500 grams were seized. Govardhan told the media that he was not involved in the gold theft in Sabarimala and had given a statement to the investigation team.
