NEW DELHI: KPCC president Sunny Joseph said that the change in the government’s stand on women’s entry to Sabarimala Temple is a strategy to overcome public anger against the government ahead of the elections.
"The move shows a lack of sincerity and is a complete reversal of the earlier position. Those who were involved in the Sabarimala gold theft and the corruption related to the Global Ayyappa Summit are now trying to make way for a new scam. These are the people who earlier forced women to enter the temple with police protection. They had organised events such as the Women’s Wall and other gatherings in the name of social reform to support the decision," Sunny Joseph said.
"The ruling party is again staging new actions and political drama. The current move clearly shows that the CPM does not have a consistent policy. They should publicly admit that their earlier stand on the issue was wrong. They should also clarify who would be held responsible for the crores of rupees allegedly spent in the name of social reform programmes. The committee formed in the name of the renaissance movement should be dissolved," he said.
