THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Little children, dressed up as Lord Krishna and Gopika, made the streets in the capital city vibrant on Sunday. The little Krishnas and Gopikas walked in the procession across the city as part of the Sree Krishna Jayanthi celebrations conducted by Balagokulam.
Different phases of Lord Krishna’s life were depicted by the toddlers in the procession. Many danced while others walked in glee, not sure what was happening around them. The little Krishnas were more than happy to walk flaunting their colourful costumes and ornate headgears in the accompaniment of musical instruments and bhajan groups. At 3 pm, small processions from 10 centres converged in front of the Palayam Mahaganapathi Temple, turning the city yellow. The procession ended at 6 pm with a Maha Aarti in front of the Pazhavangadi Ganapathi Temple.
Aval packet and Unniyappam prepared by the Attukal Devi Temple Trust were distributed as prasadam (offerings) to the little children who took part in the procession. The Sangama Shobhayatra was inaugurated by Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bayi. Balagokulam General Secretary R. Prasannakumar gave the Sri Krishna Jayanti message.
Around sixty people participated in the procession led by Saksham, an organisation working for the welfare of the differently-abled. Five of them participated in wheelchairs.
