WAYANAD: Senior leader A V Jayan left the party leaving the CPM Wayanad district leadership in a crisis. Jayan, who was an active presence in the party for 35 years, submitted his resignation stating that the situation is such that he cannot continue in the party. He alleged that personal vendettas and factionalism were behind the decision. Jayan revealed the reason for his resignation to a private channel.

'I am a person who had fully dedicated myself to the party for 35 years. However, now things are happening in a tone of threat. I am leaving the party in a situation where I cannot work honorably,' he said.

He said that since he took a stand against Saseendran -Rafeeq faction, there have been planned moves against him, that a faction has been constantly targeting him since the last district conference, and that decisions are being taken in a tone of threat instead of discussions within the party.

Jayan also levelled a serious allegation that some CPM leaders leaked information to the Congress leadership to destroy him politically. He warned that the planned sabotage moves in the party will cause a big setback for the CPM in the future.

Former Kottarakkara MLA and CPM leader Aisha Potty joined the Congress the other day. A three-time MLA from Kottarakkara, Aisha Potty joined the Congress after ending her three-decade-long association with the LDF. Moreover, the CPM had removed Aisha Potty from the Kottarakkara area committee last year.
