THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seven districts of Kerala are likely to receive very heavy rainfall in the next three hours. The rain warning has been issued in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in these districts. The late-night bulletin issued at 10 p.m. also cautioned of strong winds reaching speeds up to 50 kmph.
Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts are likely to receive isolated moderate rainfall accompanied by winds up to 40 kmph. The IMD also warned that isolated places in other districts may receive light showers.
A low-pressure system persists over Chhattisgarh, which is expected to bring rainfall across Kerala for the next five days. The IMD has forecast isolated extremely heavy rainfall for today and isolated heavy rainfall for tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued tomorrow in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
