Several accused break down during argument, my mother is alone, says Pulsar Suni, I am innocent: Martin

KOCHI: Some dramatic scenes were witnessed in the court during the argument in the actor assault case. Martin and Pradeep, the second and the sixth accused broke down into tears in the court. They pointed that their families don’t have anyone else. They said they are innocent and requested a relaxation in the sentence. Vijeesh, the fourth accused asked the court to send him to Kannur Jail.

Pulsar Suni requested the court to reduce his sentence as his mother is alone in the house. Among the accused, Pulsar Suni was the only one who finished his statement in two lines. The second accused Martin broke down into tears. Martin repeated that he hasn’t committed any crime and was innocent. I was jailed for five and a half years for the crime which I have not committed. There is not even a petty case against me. He also said that his parents are unwell and that he was the only breadwinner of the family.

Manikandan, the third accused also said the same things as what Martin said. He said that he has no role in the conspiracy. Manikandan said that he has a wife, a nine-year-old daughter, and a one-year-old son, and that there is no one else to take care of the family.

Vijeesh, the fourth accused told the court that he should be given minimum sentence and that since he is from Thalassery, he should be shifted to Kannur prison. The fifth accused, Salim, said that he had not done anything wrong. Salim said that he has a wife and daughter and they have no one else. The sixth accused, Pradeep, also spoke about his family. He also broke down in the court.
