
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director PT Kunju Muhammed granted anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case. The Thiruvananthapuram Seventh Additional Sessions Court granted bail with strict conditions.
The complaint against Kunju Muhammed was filed by a female film worker. PT Kunju Muhammed, who is also a former MLA, was the chairman of the jury that selects films for the IFFK. The film worker filed a complaint alleging that Kunju Muhammed misbehaved with her during the selection of films for the film festival. The incident in question took place on the 6th of last month.
The complainant was also a member of the selection committee for the film festival. The jury members were staying at a hotel in the capital. The film worker filed a complaint alleging that Kunju Muhammed had come to her room and misbehaved with her when she returned to the hotel after the film screening.
The Chief Minister had handed over the complaint to the Cantonment Police, alleging that the woman had been insulted. The police then took the complainant's statement, examined the CCTV footage and collected evidence. However, Kunju Muhammed had denied the complaint. PT Kunju Muhammed had said that the complainant might have misunderstood, and he was ready to apologise to her.
