THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dubbing artist and film activist Bhagyalakshmi, who has continued to take strong public positions following the court verdict in the actress assault case, has received death threats.
Bhagyalakshmi said an unidentified person threatened her over the phone, warning that acid would be thrown on her face if she continued to speak against actor Dileep. She said the caller used extremely abusive language, which was deeply disturbing.
She said she will soon file a police complaint and submit the phone number from which the threat was received. According to Bhagyalakshmi, the abusive call came from outside the country, and she suspects it is part of a cyber intimidation campaign.
Bhagyalakshmi also said she has faced similar threats in the past. However, she alleged that even after filing complaints earlier, the police failed to take effective action.
