VADAKARA: More details have emerged in the hit-and-run case that left a nine-year-old girl in a coma and another dead. It was found that Purameri native Shajeel who drove the car, was with his family at the time of the accident.
Shajeel's wife and two children were in the car. Following this, the police recorded the wife's statement. On Friday, the police found the car that killed a woman and left a nine-year-old in a coma. KL 18 R 1846 white Swift car driven by Shajeel caused the accident. The car was taken into custody. Vadakara Rural SP Nithin Raj announced in a press conference about initiating steps to bring back Shajeel, who fled to UAE.
Sudhir and Smita's daughter Drishana and her grandmother Baby were hit by the speeding car. The accident took place in Chorode Mata Amritanandamayi mutt near Vadakara at 9 pm. The two after alighting from a bus, were crossing the road when the car rammed into them. Baby (62) died in the accident. The child is still in a coma and undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. A special investigation team led by Crime Branch DYSP Benny investigated the case.
