CLAPPANA: The excise department withdrew the advertisement that wrongly publicised the phone number of a teacher instead of the department. The changes were made to the poster installed to control drug use during Onam. The department also apologised to the owner of the phone number, Shanavas.

In the post, a digit of the phone number was wrong, which resulted in sleepless days for teacher Shanavas, a native of Kavumthara. Kerala Kaumudi had published a news item about this yesterday. Shanavas was bombarded with phone calls at all times, which even forced him to end his incoming services. This resulted in phone calls reaching him through WhatsApp.

The cyber wing of the excise department called Shanavas in the morning and apologised. They also assured that the mistake would not happen again. Later, the advertisement uploaded on Instagram was withdrawn. This is the second time that Shanavas was caught in the phone number gaffe of the excise department.

Instead of the Excise number 9447178000, Shanavas' number 9747178000 was used in the advertisement.
