KOCHI: The Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce's monitoring committee meeting, scheduled for today, will recommend strict measures to prevent drug use in the film industry. Despite allowing permission, police and excise authorities are reluctant to conduct inspections, including at shooting locations. KFCC will strongly discuss measures to stop drug usage in the industry.

The monitoring committee will strongly support action against Shine Tom following his arrest in the drug case. The actor is also likely to face a ban from movies. The committee will also consider Vincy Aloysius' complaint about Shine misbehaving with her during a shoot in Ponnani. The meeting is scheduled for 3 pm on Monday.

Two years ago, the producers' association demanded police, excise presence, and raids on film sets. Organisation officials said that no follow-up action or effective investigation was taken despite evidence of drug distribution on the film set.

The monitoring committee to hear the complaints was formed on the instructions of the Women's Commission and the High Court. In addition to the chamber office bearers, the committee consists of 21 members representing AMMA, FEFKA, and industry organisations.

Drug abuse is not limited to actors, but also extends to technicians, ancillary staff, etc. It has also been found that some of the film workers are linked to the drug distribution chain. Shine Tom's statement to the police states that drug use is widespread on the sets, with even reputed actors among frequent users of the banned drugs.
