THRISSUR: The prosecution contended that there was no lapse on the part of SI Amod, who was arrested and subsequently suspended by Nedupuzha CI for being drunk in a public place. The prosecution told the court that CI Dilip Kumar had registered a fake case. The blood test results also show that SI Amod was not drunk, unlike as alleged by the CI.
The incident happened last July. A senior official filed a case stating that Amod, a resident of Vadookara, who had gone to buy goods at a shop, was drunk in public. Amod said that an empty liquor bottle was taken from the nearby timber mill and used as evidence.
Amod informs that he came to know from the Special Branch officials that some of the employees of the Vadookara timber mill were making arrangements to get drunk. Amod who was passing by was caught when some of them went to buy water. Even though Amod said that he was an SI, it did not help. The commissioner suspended Amod the next pending investigation. However, the special branch had given a report that Amod was not drunk in public. The blood test that came later was also in favour of him. However, the suspension against the SI has not been lifted. It is reported that the police force itself is dissatisfied with the fact that no action has been taken against the CI.
Meanwhile, SHO Dilip Kumar's explanation is that Amod was arrested on suspicion of lying. He says that Amod was found drunk in the breathalyser. There is discomfort in the district police with the behaviour of some of the higher-ups towards the subordinates and with this incident, it has started to come out. Amod is the leader of the Police Officers Association.
