KALPETTA: Dr M.K. Narayanan, former Dean of the Pookode Veterinary College, has been transferred with a demotion. The action was taken in connection with the death of student J.S. Siddharthan. Assistant Warden Kanthanathan has also been transferred, and his two-year promotion has been blocked.

The decision was taken by the Board of Management after hearing the arguments of both officials. Dr Narayanan has been transferred to the Veterinary College, while Kanthanathan has been moved to the Thiruvazhamkunnu Poultry College. Dr Narayanan will not be given any administrative responsibilities for three years.

Siddharthan was found hanging in the hostel bathroom on February 18, 2024. Although allegations arose immediately following his death, the family revealed the matter to the media only after a few days, prompting the police to register a case and launch an investigation. It was found that Siddharthan had been subjected to severe physical abuse and mental harassment in the days leading to his death.
