KALPETTA: Reports are claiming that mob trials had taken place in Pookode Veterinary College before as well. The incidents took place in 2019 and 2021. The finding was made by the Anti-Ragging Committee. The mob trial and beating took place on the allegation of misbehaving with the girls.
The information came out while the committee recorded the statements of the students regarding the death of Siddharth. Following this, the college authorities took action against the accused students.
Four were banned from internships for beating up students in the 2019 batch. The college also cancelled the scholarships of five students. Two people were suspended for beating up 2021 batch students. Their scholarship has also been cancelled.
The information found by the Anti-Ragging Committee will be handed over to the police for further investigation. On February 18, Nedumangad native Siddharth (21), a second-year BVSC student of the college, was found hanging inside the bathroom of the hostel. Later, it was found that Siddharth was subjected to mob trial and brutal assault for allegedly misbehaving with a girl in the college on Valentine's Day.
