'Some people try to sanctify corruption, congratulations!'; PP Divya with cryptic Facebook post

KOCHI: Former district panchayat president PP Divya shared a cryptic post after the family of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu filed a petition seeking compensation. Divya's post reads, "How to react when there are those who try to sanctify corruption. Congratulations on the effort."

Naveen Babu's family filed a defamation case against Divya and TV Prashanthan, who accused Naveen Babu of accepting bribes. The family is demanding compensation of Rs 65 lakh.

The petition alleges that Prashanthan, despite knowing the truth, repeated the corruption allegation even after Naveen Babu’s death. The Pathanamthitta Sub Court, which accepted the petition, sent notices to Divya and Prashanthan. The petition will be considered on the 11th of next month.

Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters in Pallikkunnu, Kannur, on October 15 last year. A day before his death, PP Divya had arrived at the farewell ceremony organised by revenue officials for the outgoing Kannur ADM Naveen Babu on the evening of October 14, 2024, without an invitation. She voluntarily took the mic and harangued the ADM in public, alleging corruption and also giving him sly threats.

The family alleges that Naveen Babu committed suicide out of frustration over the issue. The police had registered a case against PP Divya in the incident.
