THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: V K Prasanth MLA stepped forward criticizing councilor R Sreelekha for demanding him to vacate the MLA office in the corporation building in Sasthamangalam. Prasanth said Sreelekha's decision could not have been taken alone and that her act is unethical. He made his stand clear while talking to the media Sunday morning.
‘He was asked to vacate the MLA office Saturday morning. The office of the councillor is also in the same building and as there is insufficient space, she asked Prasanth to vacate his office. Prasanth has been using the office for seven years. BJP councillor’s office had earlier functioned in that building. There are many legal aspects to vacate this, but here the councillor calling and asking the MLA to vacate his office. This is not a right method.
This is a model similar to that followed in North Indian states. Working after paying rent. If she has any difficulties, can check. The councillor’s office does not have adequate facilities and so she wants the MLA's office to occupy. There is a law to continue there until March 31. Sreelekha cannot have taken this decision alone. There are political motives behind it and her act is unethical,’ said the MLA.
This demand came after the BJP came to power in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Sreelekha called Prasanth and demanded him to vacate his office. She asked Prasanth to vacate his office over phone to facilitate her work. However, Prasanth told her that the office has been granted till March 2026 and cannot be vacated before that.
