State to receive heavy rainfall for next four days; will take precautionary measures everywhere in context of experience of 2018, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state will receive heavy rainfall for the next four days. He said that precautionary measures will be taken everywhere in the context of the experience of 2018. So far, 55 houses were partially destroyed and five houses were completely destroyed due to the heavy rain. The state also reported six deaths, the CM said. The Disaster Management Authority has visited the rain-affected areas and assessed the conditions

The Chief Minister said that the IMD has informed that the rains which started in South Kerala from yesterday evening will concentrate in South Kerala and Central Kerala tomorrow and then it will move to North Kerala. "A red alert has been sounded in districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam today and tomorrow. State Emergency Operations Center of Disaster Management Authority, comprising representatives of National Disaster Response Force, State Rescue Forces and other concerned departments, has been set up to function as a state-level control room," the CM said.
