KANNUR: In a shocking incident in Kannur city, a stray dog that went on a biting spree, injuring 56 people, was later found dead. The incident occurred on Tuesday, with the dog spreading panic across the city for nearly eight hours.

The dog began attacking people around 11 AM and continued until after 1 PM, moving through different parts of the city, biting pedestrians and causing chaos. All 56 injured individuals sought treatment at the district hospital.

The dog attacked people in several key locations, including the new bus stand, SBI premises, and Prabhat Junction. Most of the victims sustained bites on their legs, and in many cases, the dog chased pedestrians before attacking. Some people attempted to defend themselves using umbrellas and other items, but were unsuccessful.

One victim, Saju from Kottiyoor, was bitten near the bus stand while walking to the bank after getting off a bus. Others were attacked as they exited banks or walked through the city. Several victims suffered deep wounds, and among the injured were elderly individuals and children.

Medical treatment, including anti-rabies vaccines, was administered at the Kannur District Hospital. However, two people who showed allergic reactions to the vaccine were referred to the Kannur Government Medical College, according to hospital authorities.
