Student from Coimbatore dies after falling into whirlpool; search underway for Neyveli native in Chittoor River

PALAKKAD: A man drowned while bathing in the Chittur River. The deceased is Rameshwaram native Sree Gautham, a member of a student group from Coimbatore. The search is on for the second person who was swept away. The search is on for Arun Kumar, a native of Neyveli. The accident happened around 2 pm today. A scuba team is conducting the search.

The youths were caught in the whirlpool and fell into the canal. Sree Gautham was rescued and taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Locals say that the current here is strong. Many people from other states come here to celebrate their holidays. Accidents have happened here before.
