Subordinate's probe against Ajith Kumar in disproportionate assets case wrong, says HC

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has sought an explanation from the vigilance in the disproportionate assets case against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar. The vigilance should provide an explanation regarding the procedures taken in the case. The court also pointed that the investigation conducted by his subordinate officer is wrong. The court was considering Ajith Kumar's plea seeking quashing of the vigilance order requiring an investigation.

The high court observed that the investigation conducted by his junior officer is wrong. The court also asked whether the investigation had the permission of the prosecution. The vigilance should clarify this. The court also assessed that if the investigation was conducted without permission, it would be against the procedures. The high court has directed to explain all the procedures adopted by the vigilance in the investigation of the case. It should explain matters including whether the investigation was conducted with prior permission. The high court also clarified that there are some legal issues.


The consideration of the case has been adjourned to tomorrow to get the explanation of the vigilance. After receiving the reply, the high court will take a decision on Ajith Kumar's demand seeking a stay.
