Sudden change in rain warning; Orange alert issued for two districts in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the Indian Meteorological Department predicting a return of heavy rainfall in the state, an orange alert was issued for various districts on Saturday. The orange alert is in Kannur and Kasaragod districts on July 16. The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted. At the same time, a yellow alert has also been issued in various districts in Kerala for the next five days.

Yellow alert:

12/07/2025: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

13/07/2025: Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

14/07/2025: Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

15/07/2025: Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod

16/07/2025: Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad

The Central Meteorological Department defines heavy rain as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is expected in 24 hours.
