Teacher in custody for post insulting V S Achuthanandan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A teacher has been taken into custody for his post on social media insulting late V S Achuthanandan. The one taken into custody is Anoop of Nagaroor in the capital city. He was taken into custody on the complaint filed. Police said further steps will be taken after recording his statement. The post without mentioning his name has drawn criticisms on social media.

Meantime, the body kept for public homage at the Durbar Hall, has been taken to his hometown Alappuzha as a funeral cortege. Arrangements have been made to pay homage in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha.

The cortege will pass through 27 centers in Thiruvananthapuram. The centers are Palayam, PMG, Plamood, Pattom, Kesavadasapuram, Ulloor, Pongumood, Sreekaryam, Kaniyapuram, Pallipuram, Mangalapuram, Attingal Bus Stand, Kacherinada, Alamkode, Kaduvayil, Kallambalam, Navaikulam, 28th Mile and Kadampattukonam. Arrangements have been made for public homage in various centres in Kollam. There will be a public homage at Velikkakom House in Alappuzha in the evening.

There will be a public homage at the CPM Alappuzha district committee office from 9 am tomorrow. A public homage will also be there at the Alappuzha Town Hall tomorrow afternoon. The body will be laid to rest at Valiya Chudukad in Alappuzha tomorrow evening.
