CLAPPANA (KOLLAM): A teacher has lost his sleep over an excise advertisement where a typo of a single digit has resulted in his phone number going viral. The post that excise had posted to control drug use during Onam is what is causing this teacher trouble. When the mobile number given in the post where the public could complain was changed, it turned out to be that of A Shanavas, a native of Clappana Pattathilkadavu.

Complaints are flooding in day and night. Drinking in public, fake alcohol brewing, paan being sold at a shop near the school... This is how the complaints go. Most calls are at night, and the messages are not low in number. With this, Shanavas cut the incoming call, but the calls started coming on WhatsApp instead.

The excise number is 9447178000. Instead of the second digit of 4, 7 was given as the excise number. With this, Shanavas' number (9747178000) became the 'excise number'. Shanavas, who has linked this number to many documents, cannot discontinue this number. The constant calls are disturbing Shanavas' sleep.

Trouble for the second time

This is not the first time that Excise has harmed Shanavas. A promotion was given using Shanavas' number even when Rishiraj Singh was the Commissioner. The mistake in the advertisement was corrected only after constant complaints. Shanavas is planning to complain to the Excise higher-ups again.
