Thiruvananthapuram airport records growth of 83.6 percent in number of passengers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A record growth of 83.6 percent in the number of passengers has been recorded at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in the last one year. TIAL officials informed that there was a growth of 31.53 percent in flight schedules during this period. A total of 32,3792 passengers traveled through Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in January, 2023. In January 2022 the figures were only 17,6315.

The average daily travellers in January last year was 5687 and which has increased to 10445 in 2023. The air traffic movement which was 1671 in January last year has become 2198 this year.

Currently, the airport handles an average of 131 domestic flights and 120 international flights per week. There are flight services to 12 international cities including Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Bahrain, Dammam, Kuwait, Singapore, Colombo, Male, Hanimadhoo and 10 domestic cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Kannur.
