THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala overcame extreme poverty with the cooperation of everyone. He added that Kerala now stands before the world as a state free from extreme poverty. He was speaking at the ceremony held at Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium, where Kerala was officially declared an 'Extreme Poverty-Free State.'
“It is a pleasure to have Malayalam’s great actor Mammootty present at this event. Today, we stand proudly before the world as a land without extreme poverty. This marks the dawn of a new Kerala. This is a step toward realising the New Kerala we have envisioned. This is a historic moment that assures we will never fall back into extreme poverty,” the Chief Minister said.
“Today also marks 69 years since the dream of a united Kerala became a reality. Everything that has been achieved was made possible through the cooperation of the people of this land. The local self-government institutions led these efforts, and everyone worked together. It was through the collective effort of all that we overcame extreme poverty. A total of 64,005 families have been freed from extreme poverty. Effective interventions must continue. This is not a fraud; it is the truth. The achievement was made possible through the unity and solidarity of our people. Unfortunately, we had to hear an unfortunate remark today,” he added.
