KOCHI: KIIFB to respond to ED summons in masala bond case. KIIFB informed that DGM Ajosh will appear before ED and explain the figures.
The High Court has directed the KIIFB officials to appear on 26th and 27th of this month. The ED has asked the High Court permission to question Thomas Isaac on the basis of available evidence. ED said that Thomas Isaac was in the know about everything related to the transaction. ED has said that he will not be arrested in the case and he should appear.
Meanwhile, former minister Thomas Isaac reiterated that he will not appear before the ED. He stated that ED summons is illegal and KIIFB has all the information. The court will hear Thomas Isaac's petition on March 8.
Thomas had earlier informed ED that the masala bond was issued as per the decision of the board of directors of KIIFB chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He also clarified that he was associated with KIIFB only as a board member when he was the Finance Minister.
"I am not personally responsible for the release of the bond. Decisions were made by KIIFB's 17 board members. The Chief Minister is the Chairman of the Board. KIIFB vice-chairman and executive committee member were only my ex-officio positions as finance minister," he had told the ED officials in Kochi last month through a representative.
