Threatened by mentioning names of Shafi and Sreekandan; Complainant hands over evidence to Police

PALAKKAD: The woman who filed a sexual assault complaint against Palakkad Congress councillor Prasobh C Valsan handed over crucial evidence to the police. In the complaint, it is mentioned that Prasobh often threatened her by mentioning the names of leaders Shafi Parambil and VK Sreekandan. The woman said that she switched off her phone after filing the complaint against Prasobh.

The complainant, a Dalit woman from Palakkad, alleged that she was taken to various places in Palakkad by Prasobh, who promised her a job, but ended up sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions. The woman filed a complaint with the Chief Minister and the District Police Chief. The incident that led to the complaint took place three months ago. The complaint states that after getting acquainted, promising a job, Prasobh came to her house and forcibly raped her.

According to the complainant, she was taken in a car by Prasobh in the pretext of finding her a job, but he parked the vehicle near the Palakkad District Hospital and behaved indecently. Meanwhile, the victim handed over to police the image she took of Prasobh during one such assault attempt.

The complainant said that when she informed the congress councillor that she was two months pregnant, the accused forced her to undergo an abortion. When she refused, he threatened her. Prasobh is absconding after the incident. Police said that his mobile phone remains switched off.
