Toddler's miraculous escape while crossing road in Kozhikode; MVD honours private bus driver Shinoj

KOZHIKODE: The Motor Vehicles Department honoured Shinoj, a private bus driver whose miraculous intervention saved the life of a child in Kodiyathur the other day. The footage of the incident was all over social media. After this came to light, the Motor Vehicles Department officials honoured Shinoj, a native of Areekode, at the new bus stand in Kozhikode.

The child, daughter of a migrant labourer, who was unattended at the time, ran across the dangerous road towards her mother. Shinoj, who was driving the bus, could not see the child as the view was blocked by an auto rickshaw parked on the roadside. It is said that the father of the child was inside the auto rickshaw, paying the fare, when the toddler frolicked across the road.

At this time, the bus, which operates on the Kozhikode-Kodiyathur route, was plying through this region. If not for Shinoj’s presence of mind, a tragedy would have happened. Shinoj said that he could not go to work for two days due to the shock of the incident. Many people called Shinoj directly and congratulated him.
