Tractor trip at Sabarimala: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar transferred from police and appointed as Excise Commissioner

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar has been appointed as the Extra Commissioner. It was decided to transfer Ajith Kumar from the police following the Sabarimala controversy. The action was taken in the context of the current Excise Commissioner Mahipal Yadav going on leave. The government will inform the High Court about the transfer of Ajith Kumar from the battalion.

Ajith Kumar's tractor trip in Sabarimala had created controversy. The Sabarimala Special Commissioner had submitted a report to the High Court on the incident. The High Court had directed that the tractor should be used only for transporting goods. The report states that Ajith Kumar violated this. The incident took place in the first week of July.

Ajith Kumar's tractor journey was from Pampa to Sannidhanam and back. It is also alleged that it was Pathanamthitta SP VG Vinod Kumar who arranged the facility. Ajith Kumar made the tractor journey by climbing into the tractor's box from a place where there was no CCTV camera in Pampa and covering himself with a tarpaulin sheet. Some pilgrims had captured the footage on their mobile phones. Ajith Kumar had come to Sabarimala in connection with the consecration ceremony of the Navagraha temple built near the Malikappuram temple.

Even carrying a cleaner on a tractor is punishable for safety reasons. Special Commissioner of Sannidhanam R. Jayakrishnan was paying special attention to this matter. He had also taken steps, including cancelling the permits of tractors carrying people. However, due to health reasons, he did not reach Sabarimala for the last month's puja and the consecration ceremony. The ADGP violated the restrictions and made the journey in the meantime.
