AHMEDABAD: All 242 people on board, including two pilots and 10 cabin crew members of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft were reportedly killed in the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Among them was Malayali nurse Ranjitha, a native of Kozhencherry in Pathanamthitta. Another Malayali is also said to have been killed in the catastrophe but the person’s identity is yet to be made public.
Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, who was on his way to London to meet his daughter also lost his life.
Ranjitha Gopakumar is a native of Pullad in Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta. A former nurse in Oman for years, Ranjitha shifted to the UK only a year ago. After spending her vacation in Kerala with her mother and children, Ranjitha left her home in Pathanamthitta only on Wednesday. Ranjitha leaves behind her two children; Elder son studying in 10th standard and the younger girl in seventh grade.
Ranjitha was working at Portsmouth University Hospital in the UK and was in Kerala on a ten-day visit.
“Ranjitha was formerly a staff nurse in Kozhenchery government hospital. She took a five-year sabbatical to go abroad. She has two children, one in tenth grade and another in seventh.” Said locals.
