Train services disrupted after lorry carrying LPG cylinders hits gate in Thrissur

THRISSUR: Train services came to a standstill after a lorry hit the Pudukad railway gate. The lorry carrying LPG cylinders hit the iron pillar of the railway gate. The pillar that was damaged in the accident hit the electric line of the railway track. With this, the power supply was snapped.


Various trains bound for Ernakulam are presently halted at various stations. The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Junction Mangala Lakshadweep Express also faced disruption in train traffic in the state due to an engine failure. The incident happened at Mullurkara around 6 am. With this, several trains bound for Thiruvananthapuram were delayed for several hours. The engine was brought from Shoranur and the train was shifted to the nearby Vallathol Nagar station and only then the other trains were allowed to pass. Trains including the Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi were delayed.
