Treated at Alappuzha Medical College for nail piercing through foot; housewife's toes amputated without consent

ALAPPUZHA: Complaint that the toes of a housewife who came for treatment were amputated without her consent. The incident took place at Alappuzha Medical College. The toes of Kuthiathode native Seenath (58) were amputated on Monday. Seenath's relatives have filed a complaint with the Superintendent and DMO regarding the incident.

Seenath was admitted to Alappuzha Medical College after a nail pierced through her foot on September 29. Relatives say that two of Seenath's fingers were amputated after she was taken away on the 30th, saying that the wound needed to be dressed. It is alleged that the fingers were amputated without the consent of the patient or her relatives.
