Tree uprooted by elephant falls on bike; engineering student dies

KOCHI: In a tragic incident, an engineering student succumbed to injuries after a tree, uprooted by a wild elephant, fell on the bike on which she was travelling. The deceased has been identified as Ann Mary (21), an engineering student from Kothamangalam. The incident occurred at Chembankuzhi on the Neendanpara-Kothamangalam route.

Ann Mary and her classmate Althaf were travelling on the bike when they were attacked by the wild elephant. A palm tree uprooted by the elephant fell onto the bike they were travelling on. Both were admitted to a private hospital with injuries, but Ann Mary succumbed to her injuries. Althaf is undergoing treatment. Ann Mary's body will be shifted to the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital.
