Trial court to consider actor assault case today, date to deliver verdict will be informed 

KOCHI: The trial court in Kochi will consider the actor assault case today. The date to deliver the verdict in the case will be informed soon. The case, which has completed its final arguments, is in its final stages of clearing doubts about the prosecution's allegations. The verdict in the case will be delivered by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court Judge.

The actress was attacked in a moving vehicle in Kochi on February 17, 2017. There was a total of 12 accused in the case. There are now nine accused in the case after making one an approver and two being excluded from the case. Actor Dileep is the eighth accused in the case, with Pulsar Suni as the first accused.

Although Dileep approached the high court demanding a CBI investigation in the case, there was no favorable verdict. Observing that the trial of the case was in the final stages, the division bench of Justices A Muhammad Mushtaq and P Krishna Kumar dismissed Dileep's plea. Dileep's argument was that a CBI probe was needed for a transparent and impartial investigation. Dileep's lawyer had argued that there was a conspiracy in the case. The court did not accept these arguments. The division bench had earlier observed that Dileep was demanding a CBI investigation as a defense against the trial in the case.
