Tribal youth tied to post, beaten up by mob in Attappadi; controversy erupts

PALAKKAD: A complaint reached police about a tribal youth being tied up and beaten in Attappadi on Tuesday. Shibu (19), a native of Agali Chittoor, was subjected to torture by a mob. The group of people stripped the youth, tied him to a post and roughed him up for allegedly obstructing traffic on the road.

The incident took place on May 24 but the footage surfaced on Tuesday. The young man suffered injuries all over his body. Shibu, who sought treatment at the hospital, filed a complaint with police.

As per police, the youth was manhandled by locals for attacking a vehicle in a drunken state. The vehicle owner Joy is a native of Sholayur. The police have registered a case against the youth on the complaint of Joy.

There is an accusation about police not registering a case against Joy and others despite the youth filing a complaint.
