THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The employees of the Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate celebrated Onam differently this year. They chose the biggest festival in Kerala to honour two individuals who emerged as role models of compassion and human love.

District Collector Anukumari honoured Raghavanunni, who miraculously helped a passenger trapped between the railway track and platform get back to life. Another was Prasannakumar, who returned 18 sovereigns of gold jewellery that the wedding party left behind unknowingly in his autorickshaw.

Raghavanunni is an electrical technician at the Ernakulam Railway Depot and a native of Thenur, Parli, Palakkad. Raghavanunni is now a social media star after his saviour act went viral. Prasannakumar is an auto driver at the stand near Gurupuram Lutheran School, Alappuzha.

The Collector also presented a prize to Neyyattinkara Tahsildar Shaji T. R., who secured fourth place in the Mr. Asia (Masters) Body Building Championship held in Bangkok. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Weight Loss Challenge held among the employees using the open gym in the Collectorate premises. The Collectorate Staff Welfare and Recreation Club organised an artistic competition for the employees. ADM TK Vineeth, Recreation Club President Ajeesh Kumar V, Secretary Shijin SR and others attended the function.
