THRISSUR: An elephant brought to Kodungallur for a festival attacked another elephant in the group. The incident took place near the Thiruvanchikulam temple near Kodungallur. An elephant named Uttoly Mahadevan, who was brought to the temple for the Shivaratri festival, attacked an elephant named Moothakunnam Padmanabhan, who was with him. A large crowd gathered at the spot after hearing about the elephant attack. The Elephant Squad reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

The nine-day Shivaratri celebrations began with an elephant race at the temple on the last day. Three elephants participated in the event. Uttoly Mahadevan and Moothakunnam Padmanabhan participated in the elephant race in which the elephant named Thadathavila Suresh won.
