Two killed, five injured in pickup-jeep collision in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: Two people were killed in a collision between a Bolero jeep and a pickup van in Kodimatha. One has been admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital with serious injuries. The dead were identified as Jaymon James (43) of Kottayam Kollad Kuzhakeel and Arjun (19) of Kollad Mangalalayam. Seriously injured Jadhav is in the ventilator of Kottayam Medical College Hospital. There were five in the Bolero jeep. Two in the jeep died and three were injured. There were two inside the pickup van and they sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened Monday night at 12. The Bolero jeep was going from Manipuzha to Kottayam. At that time, the jeep collided with a pickup van coming from the opposite direction. The Bolero jeep was completely destroyed in the impact of the collision. The pickup van was also severely damaged. The rescue operation was carried out by the locals who rushed to the spot.

The driver, Jaymon, who was trapped inside the jeep, was taken out by cutting the jeep. The injured were taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital in a fire brigade ambulance and other ambulances.
