'I will stab you to death,’ will not let you live; Video recorded by Athulya, who ended life in Sharjah, out

KOLLAM: The video visuals of Athulya of Kollam, who committed suicide in a flat in Sharjah, being beaten by her husband Sathish Shankar, is out. A shocking video has been released now in which Sathish says that he is ready to go to jail after killing her. In one of the videos, the woman says that she endured torture for ten years. These videos may have been taken days before her death. In the video, Sathish is heard saying that he will stab her to death and that he will not allow Athulya to leave Sharjah, and will not let her live. Her relatives had produced these videos in the family court.

Videos of Athulya being subjected to severe mental and physical torture had emerged earlier. The woman committed suicide on July 19. Based on a complaint filed by Athulya's family, the Chavara Thekkumbhagam police had registered a case of murder against Sathish. While the investigation was ongoing, Sathish had arrived home from Sharjah. Sathish, who was arrested at the airport, was granted interim anticipatory bail. The crime branch has approached the court seeking cancellation of his bail. The court will consider the plea on September 2.

A forensic examination conducted in Sharjah found that there was no abnormality in the woman's death. The body of the woman was brought back to the state and funeral was held after a re-postmortem. Athulya’s messages to her friends and relatives said that he is an alcoholic and had harassed her constantly. The family alleged that there is a mystery around her death.
