PATHANAMTHITTA: A CPI leader vehemently protested against the attempt of a few to portray her as a victim of MLA Rahul Mamkootathil's alleged assaults. G Sreena Devi Kunjamma, a district panchayat member in the area in Adoor, Rahul's hometown, talked about the phone conversation she had with a prominent female reporter.

The post reads - "Three days ago, a famous female journalist from a prominent channel called me on the phone. She wanted to enquire about some rumours she heard about me experiencing something unfortunate from Rahul Mamkootathil. The journalist even heard that I filed a complaint about Rahul’s misdemeanours.

In reality, I don’t have any complaint, and it is not scrupulous journalism to directly contact someone based on mere rumours. The police should file a case against the channel for insulting femininity. Do not create imaginary victims for the sake of TRPs. I seriously suspect a conspiracy behind all this.

The Crime Branch should investigate the matter seriously as it is deplorable to insult innocent people backed by rumours.”
