Two more die in Wandoor accident, four under treatment

MALAPPURAM: Two more people have died in the accident that happened in Wandoor. A 62-year-old woman identified as Maimoona had died yesterday. Her husband Kunjimohammed (66) of Chellakody Karimbana and their daughter Thahira (40) died today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. The accident happened when the Innova in which the seven-member family were travelling rammed into a tree Saturday morning. The incident happened while they were returning after dropping their grandson at his nursing college in Mysore.

Thahira’s twin children Muhammed Asmal, Muhammed Arshad (12), son-in-law Isahaq (41) and his daughter Shifra Meharin (7) sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.

The accident happened Saturday early morning at around 1 am at Kooriyad near Wandoor. The accident happened just 1.5 kilometers away from their house. Thahira’s daughter Anshida is studying nursing in Mysore. The car was driven by Isahaq.

There was heavy rain in the area at the time of the accident. The vehicle hit a tree in front of the bus waiting shed on the opposite side soon after passing the bridge. The Innova has been completely damaged. The locals, who rushed hearing a big sound, conducted the rescue operations. Maimoona died on way to the hospital. She was laid to rest at the Manjappetty Juma Masjid.
