Two women charred to death in major fire in New India Insurance office in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two women were charred to death after a major fire broke out at the office of the New India Insurance in Pappanamcode. One among the two is an employee of the office and she has been identified as Vaishna (35). The second woman has not been identified. The bodies have been burnt completely.

The fire broke out on the first floor of the office Tuesday afternoon. The office has been completely burnt. Nothing has happened to the shops on the ground floor. The office was functioning in a small space. There was glass in the front. There was no way to escape from the back portion of the office. This added to the scale of the tragedy. The cause of the fire is unclear. A clarity will be obtained only after a forensic examination.

The people in the area who came for the rescue operations poured water on the fire. By the time, the two have died. They alleged that the fire force arrived late. The office is functioning in the middle of the city. Meantime, the fire has been doused, informed the fire force.


Locals said a loud fight was heard
The second woman came from outside. One of the locals said after she arrived, they heard a loud fight. First the glass broke and then fire and smoke emanated.
