THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CMP leader V R Sini, who contested as a UDF candidate in the Edavacode ward of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, collapsed and died. She collapsed at her family home in Sreekaryam Elamkulam. Sini was immediately taken to the Medical College Hospital, but she had passed by then.
Mini, who was a candidate in this election, lost to the BJP by 26 votes. Two other candidates who contested as her dummy candidates got 44 votes. Congress leader KS Sabarinath expressed his condolences on the death. He recalled that Sini worked tirelessly despite health problems.
"I woke up to heartbreaking news this morning. Our beloved Sini Chechi has left us. Sini Chechi was a fiery councillor of the CMP in the corporation, and this time she was the fighter assigned by the UDF to capture the fort called Edavakode. Chechi lost in this fort yesterday by just 26 votes. Two other people with the same name got 44 votes," said Sabarinathan.
