Uncertainty in Pala Municipality: Pulikkakandam family's crucial decision today

KOTTAYAM: The Pulikkakandam family, the kingmakers in Pala Municipality, will announce their final decision today. LDF leaders, led by Minister V N Vasavan, had met Binu Pulikkakandam the other day to seek his support. Binu, his brother Biju Pulikkakandam, and Binu's daughter Diya Pulikkakandam won as independents in the local body elections.

According to Pulikkakandam family, they will support whichever front that offers chairmanship of the municipality to the family. The demand is that Diya Binu be appointed chairperson for the first two years and Binu be appointed vice-chairman for three years.

In a public meeting held with voters from the three wards, the majority of voters demanded that the family support UDF. Meanwhile, the LDF held discussions with Binu. It is reported that they took a favourable stance towards Binu's demand during the meeting. The UDF is also trying to persuade Binu.
