Medisep second phase from January 1: Premium amount increased: Opposition organisations protest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second phase of Medisep, the health insurance scheme for government employees and pensioners, has been given administrative approval to start from January 1. Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department K.R. Jyothilal issued the order yesterday.

The annual premium will be Rs. 8237 plus GST. Rs. 810 will be deducted from employees and pensioners per month. Benefits will be available as per the terms of understanding between the government and Oriental Insurance Company. Only the first year's premium is mentioned in the order.

Error in the order

Although the order states that the term is two years from January 1, 2026, the date is shown as three years from 01-01-2026 to 31-12-2028. This is indicated as an error but has not been corrected.
