KASARGOD: An unexpected guest was seen popping out from a moving scooter driven by Sharafunnisa, a teacher. She felt something unusual and when looked at the brakes saw a huge venomous snake. She got scared for a moment but without losing courage, applied the brake again, stopped the vehicle and got out. Sharafunnisa, a history teacher at Nehru College in Padannakkad and of Thaikadappuram, miraculously escaped without being bitten by the snake. The incident happened barely a kilometer away from college.
She regularly goes to college from her house in Thaikkadappuram on scooter. When she left her house yesterday morning, she didn’t feel anything unusual. When she applied the brakes after a short distance, she saw the snake on the right side. When she thought that it was dangerous to continue further, she decided to stop the vehicle and get out. Realizing that if she had applied the right brake, the snake would be injured and turn aggressive, Sharafunnisa applied the left brake, stopped the vehicle and got out. When the people there came to know about it, they immediately called the mechanic. He came and when changed the body of the vehicle, found a large venomous snake inside. It is not clear how the snake got inside the scooter. It is believed that it may have entered through the gap in front of the scooter.
Sharafunnisa said that she feels scared when thinking about riding the scooter with the snake for such a long distance. Although there are reports of snakes being found inside helmets and in storage areas, locals said that this was a rare incident.
